Eating disorder? That is more than just eating

Many among us are silently and quite ignorantly suffering from eating disorders. Most of the time, an eating disorder is confused with obesity, however, it is more than just that. This disorder is more related to your psychology, that constitutes to irregular eating habits. There are many issues that fall under the umbrella of an Eating Disorder. These namely are Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia. For most of us, perhaps this is the first time you are reading the term, while there are millions around the world who are silently suffering from this torture.

  1. Anorexia nervosa – A life-threatening disorder that we mostly fail to notice. Classified under eating disorders, anorexia nervosa is yet a psychological disease wherein the person has a distorted image about their body. Their every attempt is derived towards losing weight, leading them to become extremely skinny and underweight. They tend to absolutely lose their interest in food, giving it up all the way.

People who are suffering from this ailment are not necessarily underweight, which is very unlike of Anorexia Nervosa. These people also attempt to purge to helps them manage their weight.

Symptoms – The symptoms to figure out whether the person is suffering from Bulimia Nervosa are:

  • Dehydration
  • Binge eating
  • Social isolation
  • Depression
  • Negative image about own body
  • Dry skin
  • Irregular heart beats
