Healthy Breakfast – Dalia Khichdi

Broken wheat is quite popularly used in Indian Cuisine. Those who wish to reduce their daily dosage of rice must think of replacing it with Broken Wheat. Broken Wheat Khichdi is made up of whole wheat which makes it power packed with nutrients. You can make it for breakfast, lunch or dinner it doesn’t matter. Broken Wheat Khichdi is also good to keep the body warm during cold climatic conditions.


Organic Broken wheat
Cumin Seeds
Red chili powder or green chilis
Capsicum, beans, carrots, curry leaves and peas
Organic split green gram


1: Soak the organic broken wheat and organic split green gram for one hour
2: Roast it slightly and keep it aside
3: Take a vessel and add oil, cumin seeds, ginger, asafoetida and stir well
4: Add tomatoes, turmeric and salt
5: Add red chili powder or green chili
6: Add vegetables like capsicum, carrots, curry leaves, beans and peas
7: Add soaked organic broken wheat and organic split green gram
8: Pressure cooker the entire mixture for some time
9: Garnish with coriander leaves
